Abstract

Background:

-Prevalence of anemia is high in pts with CKD and Hb declines with declining eGFR; the largest drop in Hb with eGFR <60ml/minute/1.73m

-Anemia in ESRD on dialysis has been show to be an independent risk factor for death after discharge, increased hospital length of stay, in hospital mortality, and readmission

-CKD is an independent risk factor for hospital length of stay, mortality after discharge, and readmission
