Description
Part Two: By the early 20th century, the American hospital was undergoing a transformation from charitable institution to one catering to all levels of society. Many factors contributed to the metamorphosis, including the adoption of formal standards, the professionalization of nursing, and new surgical procedures. Scientific discoveries helped physicians understand the root causes of disease.
