Description
This 30-minute virtual session will enhance rural preceptors’ intentionality in using emotional intelligence skills effectively in precepting and patient care while acknowledging their busy schedules. Participants will be able to:
- Recognize the components of emotional intelligence and their relevance in precepting and clinical practice.
- Apply strategies to communicate with learners effectively.
- Develop a personal approach to managing stress and integrating learner engagement into clinical workflows without increasing workload.

The ME Rural GME Education (MERGE) Collaborative – a partnership with Northern Light Health, Central Maine Medical Center, Maine Medical Center and Maine-Dartmouth Family Residency Program at Maine General Hospital – will also develop faculty development for rural practitioners and a shared learning platform for an inter-disciplinary and inter-professional rural healthcare providers.
