OBJECTIVES:
• Appraise the epidemiology of humanitarian crises affecting children globally and assess gaps in epidemiological methods applied to humanitarian crises
• Explain basic definitions of “crisis affected” populations
• Demonstrate through case example the role and responsibilities of pediatric health professionals in responding to humanitarian crises
• Assemble the range of pediatric responses and assess support systems for maintaining pediatric engagement in humanitarian crises (the role of trainees, acute and sustained interventions)
