Maine General Hospital Ward A c.1895
Description
A note on the reverse indicates that this is "Ward A 1895" (date uncertain on some copies), showing student nurses and patients. Most patients on the large wards did not see their own physicians. They were cared for by either a Visiting Physician or Visiting Surgeon who worked at the hospital on a rotating basis while carrying their own practices.
