Abstract

While hand surgery has developed as its own unique subspecialty since the mid-twentieth century, other providers, especially those practicing in emergency or more rural settings, may be called upon to perform minor surgical procedures of the hand. With understanding of the relevant anatomy and basic surgical principles, minor hand procedures can be done safely and effectively. This article will discuss common hand injuries and pathologies and their respective management.
