Abstract
Introduction:
Shared governance (SG) is a model that encourages collaboration and shared decision-making between nurses and other health care team members, their leaders and other interprofessional health care team members.
Nurses at all levels actively, and especially through councils, can participate in decision-making processes that affect their practice, including patient care, resource allocation, and unit operations, essentially sharing responsibility with leadership to improve quality and patient outcomes.
